Search continues for missing Devil's Den hiker

Crews continued to search today for a hiker who went missing at Devil's Den State Park on Sunday afternoon, according to Arkansas State Park officials.

Rodney Letterman, 33, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, was last seen hiking on Butterfield Trail with a friend when they were separated, said spokesperson Tim Scott, assistant superintendent of Devil's Den.

Officials found Letterman's cellphone, Scott said.

"We started with his last known point and are expanding the search from there," he said.

Letterman doesn't have a pack with him, but his hiking partner said he had about a liter and a half of water, Scott said.

The man's friend told officials he went back to the car because he felt fatigued and needed medication. When he returned, his partner was gone.

Emergency crews from several counties and the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism continued to search for Letterman using ATVs, horses and walking the trails on foot.

Letterman is six feet tall and weights 240 pounds. Anyone with information that may help with the search can call the Washington County Sheriff's Office at 479-444-5712.
