UALR loses in five at Southern Miss
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock lost 26-24, 25-23, 23-25, 25-27, 6-15 to Southern Mississippi on Saturday in Hattiesburg, Miss.
Mya Robinson led the Trojans (1-2) with 15 kills while Marina Avram had 13 and 13 digs, and Veronica Marin had 12. Taylor Lindberg had 52 assists. Sydnee Martin had 22 digs, and Martiza Mesa had 10 digs.
Central Arkansas drops Buffalo
The University of Central Arkansas defeated Buffalo 25-23, 25-20, 25-23 on Saturday at the Buffalo Invitational in Buffalo, N.Y.
Central Arkansas (3-0) was led by Samantha Anderson, who had 13 kills. Haley Tippett had 11 kills, 2 blocks and 1 assist. Megan Nash had 11 kills and four blocks. Elizabeth Anderson had 41 assists. Kelley Douglas had 14 digs while Emily Doss had 12 and Amanda Dimon had 10.
Megan Nash was named tournament MVP while Doss and Samantha Anderson were named to the all-tournament team.
ASU falls to Utah
Arkansas State University lost 26-24, 25-23, 25-20 to No. 23 Utah at the Bluegrass Battle at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Ky.
Carlisa May led the Red Wolves (1-2) with 15 kills and 7 digs while Ellie Watkins had 7 kills, 30 assists and 4 digs. Kenzie Field had nine digs. Tatum Ticknor had 16 digs.
Adora Anae led Utah with 12 kills. Bailey Choy had 33 assists.
Williams Baptist swept in Michigan
Williams Baptist College lost all four matches at the Early Bird Challenge in Dearborn, Mich., on Friday and Saturday.
Williams Baptist lost 25-12, 25-11, 25-20 to Judson University 25-19, 25-13, 25-23 to Spring Arbor University 25-18, 25-10, 25-16 to Indiana University-South Bend and 25-21, 25-14, 25-19 to Trinity University.
Williams Baptist will host John Brown University and Southern Arkansas University on Tuesday.
John Brown wins two
John Brown University (4-0) defeated Sterling (Kan.) and Friends (Kan.) at the Oklahoma Wesleyan Invitational in Bartlesville, Okla., on Saturday.
Against Sterling, John Brown won 25-14, 25-19, 25-17. Carly McKinney led John Brown with 13 kills. Alyssa Arnold had 18 assists, and Beth Brankle had 17 digs.
John Brown defeated Friends 25-12, 23-25, 25-21, 25-15. Madalyn Swinicki led John Brown with nine kills. Kyle Glahn had 21 assists while Jana Boston had 11. Megan Regier had 11 digs while Michaela Girard had 10 and Boston had 9.
