BENTONVILLE -- A local judge set bond at $35,000 for a former restaurant employee accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old boy in the restroom of the business.

Brandon G. Guillen, 21, of 1708 S.E. Moberly Manor Drive, No. 14 in Bentonville was arrested Monday in connection with second-degree sexual assault, according to a news release from the Bentonville Police Department.

Guillen worked at the Buttered Biscuit in Bentonville, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Tyler Williams, deputy prosecutor, requested at Monday's hearing that bond for Guillen be set at $75,000. Williams told Circuit Judge Robin Green that Guillen left the state last week and went to Colorado. Williams said Guillen was aware after he left that a arrest warrant had been issued, but did not immediately return to the area.

Guillen was not in court for the hearing, but his attorney Drew Miller requested bond be set between $5,000 and $10,000. Miller said Guillen has no criminal history and has lived in the area all his life. Miller said Guillen returned from the planned trip Saturday and turned himself in Monday.

The boy's mother called Bentonville police on Aug. 10 concerning a sexual assault complaint, according to court documents.

The mother reported she and other family members went to the restaurant to have breakfast and they were seated by Guillen, according to court documents.

The woman said her son needed to use the restroom and she let him go alone since the table was close to the restroom, according to the affidavit.

The mother learned about the sexual assault complaint when her son told her after they returned home, according to the affidavit.

The boy was interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center of Benton County. The boy reported the waiter, later identified as Guillen, came in the restroom, blocked the door, exposed himself and then inappropriately touched him, according to the affidavit.

Prosecutors have not filed a formal charge against Guillen.
