• George O. Jernigan Jr. told the Democrat today that Gov. Faubus didn't even know he had applied for the job as executive secretary of the state Democratic Party. • Two groups began separate petition drives Saturday at City Hall to change Little Rock's form of city government, but each group has its own idea about accomplishing that. • Central Arkansas planners were warned Wednesday that they need to adopt a redesign of the Interstate 630/430 interchange soon or risk losing funding for the $70 million project in west Little Rock. The Metroplan board of directors, which is composed of more than two dozen mayors and county judges, likely will vote on the redesign next month. Scott Bennett, the state Highway and Transportation Department's assistant chief engineer for planning, said his agency cannot wait much longer. "We're going to have to know whether the board supports this project or not," Bennett told the members at their regular monthly meeting Wednesday.
