Bentonville School District hosting millage vote forums

BENTONVILLE -- The School District will host two information forums over the next week on the 1.9-mill tax increase it is proposing to the community.

Superintendent Debbie Jones and finance director Janet Schwanhausser will present information on the tax request at 6 p.m. Thursday at Centerton City Hall, 290 N. Main St. Their presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer period, according to a district news release.

A second information forum will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bentonville First Baptist Church, 220 S. Main St.

A special election will be held May 9 on the tax issue. Early voting begins Tuesday. The district is requesting 1.9 additional mills to build four new schools.
