How about nixing double-standard on Trump, Obama?

I was shocked when I read Mr. Steve Keane's letter of April 18 attacking the Democrat-Gazette's headline "Trump bombs Syria." Obviously, Mr. Keane is not a student of our nation's Constitution or our recent history. If he were, he would know the president is the commander-in-chief of our country's military. He would also know President Obama sought congressional authority to bomb Syria and a Republican-controlled Congress refused to grant Mr. Obama that authority. One of President Obama's fiercest critics at that time was U.S. Rep. Steve Womack.

Mr. Trump did not seek congressional authority. Instead he advised "senior members of Congress." Mr. Trump did not inform the American people in advance, but he did alert his friends at the Kremlin to be sure they could alert their friends in Syria in advance of those incoming 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles (at $1.59 million each). No one was injured or killed in Mr. Trump's attacked. They were all warned in advance.

So, Mr. Keane thinks it's "way past time for the Democrats and the people to put aside their differences and unite for the betterment of our country." That would have been so nice if Mitch McConnell would have done that very thing when President Obama nominated Justice Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court and Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans had simply done their jobs and confirmed him. Justice Garland was no less qualified than Justice Gorsuch. But the Republicans simply wanted to continue to obstruct. Finally, Republicans went "nuclear" to just to get their way.

Tell us all more, Mr. Keane, about how to get along with a president who continues to break campaign promises, is likely guilty of the Constitution's emoluments clause, whose campaign is under FBI investigation, bombs foreign countries, uses an expensive MOAB bomb to kill only 36 terrorists and taunts a foreign country (North Korea) into a war that will only hurt another foreign country, which is an ally (South Korea).

This, all within his first 100 days.

Replacement for Obamacare isn't so difficult

Surely everyone realizes there is a simple solution to "repealing and replacing" the ACA.

If the "Royals" we have elected in Washington would just enable everyone in our great country to have the same medical coverage they voted for themselves, make it affordable for all, and we would quickly end up with nigh onto universal coverage!

And at the same time, President Trump would look like a champion for all our citizens.

Or am I just dreaming?
