THE SELECT FEW

When Bash makes dinner, it's served for a good cause

The list of guests was limited to just a dozen for an April 8 dinner hosted by Paul Bash at his home high on a hill in Hillcrest. The dinner was bought by Ginanne Long and others at the Miracle League of Arkansas Double Header fundraiser in October.

Attendees also included Dr. Jed Darr, Peggy McCall, Lee Robertson, Michael and Kelly McQueen, Connie Fails, David Cooper, Darek and Shelly Braunecker and Cliff and Kristen Lee.

The Artsy Dinner Party was co-hosted by Bash and Dr. Bob and Gaye Anderson and included a tour and remarks by Bash of his collections of 20th-century French, Russian Avant Garde and Pop art. The four-course gourmet dinner, prepared by chef Bash and Paul McGee, was paired with cocktails and wine selected by the Andersons.

The evening began with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres including Italian bruschetta, three-cheese stuffed mushrooms and frozen cashews. The first course was salmon on a cedar plank atop Boston lettuce with lemon vinaigrette and garlic toast, followed by a palate cleanser of lemon ice with a splash of vodka.

The second course consisted of chateaubriand (steak) with Jacques & Suzanne herb-butter sauce, roasted new potatoes with fresh herbs and French green beans with brown butter. Dessert was Scharffen Berger chocolate mousse with raspberry coulis and whipped cream plus rosemary sand cookies.
