Death row documentary screened in Northwest Arkansas

The Arkansas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty will host several showings of the short film, The Gathering, this weekend in Bentonville, Rogers and Fayetteville. The showings are free to the public. Times and day are:

• 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday at the Bentonville Public Library

• 2 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Fayetteville Public Library

• 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Rogers Public Library

The Gathering tells the story of Witness to Innocence, the largest organization of exonerated death row survivors in the country. Some spent decades on death row for murders they did not commit. The group comes together once a year to confer with the others who have been through the experience.

Following the film there will be a "Talk Back" opportunity to discuss issues raised in the film, the status of the death penalty in Arkansas, and options for public action.
