LITTLE RED RIVER (GREERS FERRY TAILWATER) Due to a problem with generation at Table Rock Dam, Greers Ferry was used to regulate the grid starting Wednesday. This means that one unit or more of generation is running through today, with generation going back to normal Friday.

BULL SHOALS TAILWATER Water releases have occurred in late afternoon. Rainbow trout fishing is improving. Shrimp and PowerBaits are excellent. Also try the Bleeder Series of smaller Rapalas. Use red hooks, with flashes of red on the body of your lure. Red/gold spoons are working well, as are silver/black Rapalas with a cut-throat slash. Fly fishermen are having success with silver/red midges. Try a slightly larger hook, size 14 or 12. Brown trout fishing has slowed.
NORTH FORK RIVER There has been more wadable water on the Norfork. The best fishing revolves around caddis hatches. The most productive flies have been small midge patterns (sizes 18, 20, 22) like ruby midges, root beer midges, zebra midges (black or red with silver wire and silver bead) and soft hackles (sizes 14, 16) like the Green Butt. Egg patterns have also been productive. Double-fly nymph rigs have been very effective. Try a small bead-headed nymph (zebra midge, Copper John or pheasant tail) suspended 18 inches below a brightly colored San Juan worm (hot fluorescent pink or cerise No. 10). There have been reliable hatches of small midges (try a size 24 Adams parachute) and caddis (try a size 18 elk hair caddis). The fishing is better in the morning.

BEAVER TAILWATER Many trout have been stocked below Beaver Dam and at the Bertrand Boat Ramp late. Numerous fishermen report catching exceptional quality fish. Try fishing the Twin Rock area adjacent to Parker Bottoms Campground, Cain Break and the turn-around as starters. Upstream from Parkers Bottoms in the Trophy Management Area, fly-fishermen are reporting catching quality fish.

CATHERINE Numerous cold fronts and open flood gates have slowed the bite considerably the last several days, but warmer weather and stable conditions will improve fishing. Fly-fishermen are handicapped somewhat with the lake at normal levels but still able to access areas that hold good numbers of trout and are recording limits by casting micro-jigs in black or white colors with a strike indicator.
