HOT SPOTS

LAKE CONWAY Bream, especially redears, are biting worms and crickets very well a couple of inches under corks. Bass are active on white spinnerbaits around the shoreline. Catfishing is good, and flatheads are biting very well. River fishing is great around the banks and lily pads about 8 inches deep. Crappie fishing is excellent around Pierce, Gold Creek and the Arkansas 89 Bridge with pink minnows. LAKE MAUMELLE Black bass fishing is excellent, and they’re biting crankbaits, wacky rig worms and spinnerbaits in shallow water. White bass fishing is good in the mid-lake area on Rooster Tails, CC Spoons and deep-diving Bandits and Bombers. Crappie are being caught on minnows and chartreuse/white jigs with very light line in 4-6 feet of water and about 8 feet off the weeds. Despite it being past full moon, bream are still being caught on the beds, including many big redear, on crickets and live worms. Catfishing is good in 25 feet of water with stinkbait, small bream and chicken livers. ARKANSAS RIVER (MORRILTON) Bass fishing is good behind jetties and in the coves with firetiger-colored crankbaits. Catfishing is good also on the backside of jetties with skipjack and worm combinations. Crappie are in places like Galla Creek, Petit Jean River, Flagg Lake Cut-Off, Coppers Gap and Point Remove Creek when the flows are down. When the river is high, use minnows, chartreuse and red jigs and chartreuse heads with red bodies in the backwaters. White bass are in transition zones between clear and muddy water on Bobby Garland Baby Shad.
