Travs record first sweep of season

Max Povse allowed one run in six innings and the Arkansas Travelers completed a three-game sweep of the San Antonio Missions with a 6-2 victory Tuesday night in front of an announced crowd of 4,068 at Wolff Municipal Stadium in San Antonio.

Arkansas earned its first sweep in 2017 after losing its first three series to start the season.

Povse (3-0), a right-hander, gave up 4 hits in 6 innings and struck out 7. He walked one.

Kyle Waldrop finished 2 for 4 with a home run and a two-run ground-rule double for the Travs. Ian Miller went 3 for 5. Chuck Taylor drove in two runs.

The Travs outhit the Missions 14-6, with eight of the team's nine batters recording at least one hit.

Arkansas took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning with Waldrop's ground-rule double, which scored Miller and Taylor.

San Antonio cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the second when Alberth Martinez homered to left field. It was the first run Povse had given up this season.

The Travs extended their lead to 5-1 in the top of the third inning. Brock Hebert's RBI single brought home Jay Baum, and Taylor lined a two-run double to right field later in the inning.

Waldrop hit his first home run of the season in the top of the sixth, this one to right-center field, for a 6-1 lead.

The Missions' Franmil Reyes hit a home run in the bottom of the ninth, but that was it for San Antonio.

Michael Kelly (0-1) allowed 2 runs on 4 hits and walked 4 in 2 innings for the Missions. Luis Urias led San Antonio with two hits.
