BEAVER LAKE
The crappie spawn is on. Crappie are moving into shallow water and are on spawning beds.
John Newlun at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said minnows and jigs are working one to 10 feet deep around stick ups, standing timber and brush piles. Some days anglers must weed through several sublegal-size crappie to get keepers 10 inches or longer.
Black bass are biting a variety of lures including spinner baits, jerk baits, plastic worms, or jig and pigs.
Striped bass are prowling the lake from Hickory Creek park downstream to Point 9. Use brood minnows or shad.
Hickory Creek Marina reports black bass are biting spinner baits and top-water lures. Crappie fishing is good with minnows or jigs in shallow water.
BEAVER TAILWATER
Trout fishing is good on bait, lures and flies, reports Lisa Mullins at the Beaver Dam Store. Best bait is Power Bait in bright colors. The top lures are small spoons in goldred or gold-silver.
Good flies to use include pheasant tails, midges, scuds, San Juan worms and hare’s ears.
LAKE FAYETTEVILLE
Al Perea at the lake office said crappie fishing is good with minnows in shallow water. Bluegill are also shallow and biting worms or crickets.
Try Zoom Flukes or plastic worms for black bass. Catfish are biting minnows or liver.
LAKE SEQUOYAH
Mike McBride at the lake bait shop said fishing is good for all species.
Crappie are biting well on minnows or jigs 12 to 18 inches deep under a bobber. Lots of limits are being caught. Bluegill are close to the bank and biting crickets or worms.
Black bass will bite most any lure. Try spinner baits or top-water lures. Use liver or shad for catfish.
LAKE ELMDALE
Lucky Key at Duck Camp Fishing Retreat said anglers are reeling in big bluegill. Bluegill hand-size and larger are biting crickets or worms four feet deep.
Black bass fishing is slow. Key recommends using a 4-inch plastic lizard. Catfishing is slow.
SWEPCO LAKE
Kenny Stroud in Siloam Springs said black bass are biting plastic worms. Try top-water lures at sunrise, sunset or on cloudy days.
Night fishing is good for bass. Use large top-water lures, big plastic worms and swim baits.
SILOAM SPRINGS LAKE
Stroud said crappie are biting minnows five to eight feet deep. Try square-billed crank baits for black bass.
BELLA VISTA
Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista reports fair black bass fishing at all Bella Vista lakes with plastic worms or jig and pigs. Bluegill are biting fair at all lakes with worms or crickets 15 to 20 feet deep.
EASTERN OKLAHOMA
Stroud said crappie are biting small jigs or minnows around brush near the dam five to 10 feet deep. A good jig color is a chartreuse tail with black or red body. Red and white is also good.
Black bass are biting jig and pigs, plastic worms and plastic lizards.
TABLE ROCK LAKE
The Missouri Department of Conservation reports good crappie fishing 10 feet deep with minnows or jigs around submerged timber. Black bass are biting spinner baits or jerk baits early. All other species are slow.
