BOALT HALL** raced very well in stronger allowance races earlier in the meeting, and he figures near the lead from the start at this lower level. STAR'S VALENTINO has finished with energy in his last two races, while earning the field's fastest last-race Beyer figure. MUD LIGHT was a decisive 11-length winner at this claiming price back in January, and he is a late threat if the pace is contentious.

RAGE RIOT proved determined in a victory at this class level March 25, and he did finish second behind the top selection in his previous. GO GOLD was compromised by a wide trip in a fast-closing second-place finish, and he moves to the rail and appears an overlay at program odds.

ARCH CAT*** finished a troubled third in a fast maiden race when making his career debut, and early trouble once again compromised his best in a 1-length, 2-turn defeat. OFF ROAD hit the wire in front of the top selection at 8-1 odds. The improving colt switches to Mike Smith and may prove best once again. HOT SHOT KID has rallied in a pair of second-place sprint finishes and is bred to carry his speed at least this far.

WHITMORE*** has been impressive in a three-race winning streak, including a 6-length romp in the $125,000 Hot Springs. MOE CANDY had a sluggish start in a second-place graded finish at Santa Anita. He possesses good early speed and has high-percentage California connections. HOLY BOSS competed well in Grade I races in a winless 2016, and one of his better races will give him a chance to win.

BALANDEEN is a multiple stakes-placed runner who disappointed in the Sunland Park Derby, but did sprint well here in the Gazebo. LOVE THAT LUTE was sharp in an entry-level allowance victory. LONG STATION has finished in the money in all five of his races this season. He finally drops out of allowance races and is the one to fear inside the final furlong. MOJO STREET had a three-race winning streak snapped when beaten a neck at a marathon distance. He has been consistently good since blinkers were removed Nov. 27. EXOTIC POSSIBILITIES

• The third race has an intriguing price horse in One Fine Dream, so I'll put him on top of three others in an exacta play. The ninth race kicks off a 50-cent Pick-4 and Midnight Storm is a good way to have a winner and save money at the same time. The 10th race has a minimum of four contenders, and the 11th is open for a big payoff, although others may call it a two-horse race. The 12th race is always interesting and several runners will need to be used.
