Avenue Q at UCA

University of Central Arkansas Theatre is staging Avenue Q (music, lyrics and concept by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, book by Jeff Whitty), 7:30 p.m. today-Friday and April 20-21 and 2 p.m. Sunday and April 22 in the Bridges/Larson Theatre, Snow Fine Arts Center, UCA, 201 Donaghey Ave., Conway. The show, set in a shabby New York neighborhood largely populated by puppets, contains adult content and the theater is recommending that parents do due research before deciding to let children attend. Sergeant York screening

The Old State House Museum, 300 W. Markham St., Little Rock, will screen the 1941 Gary Cooper classic Sergeant York for 2nd Friday Cinema, part of the monthly 2nd Friday Art Night, 5-8 p.m. Friday. Also part of the museum's World War I commemoration, the event will pay tribute to Arkansas' World War I heroes, including Herman Davis, an Army marksman to whom the Old State House Fountain was dedicated. WWI exhibit

Historic Arkansas Museum, 200 E. Third St., Little Rock, will open a new exhibit, "The Great War: Arkansas in World War I," with a 2nd Friday Art Night reception, 5-8 p.m. Friday. The exhibit, on display in the museum's Study Gallery through Aug. 16, examines Arkansas' role at home and on battlefields during the war through historical objects and images of original documents, photographs, posters and maps. Michael Hibblen will sign copies of his book Rock Island Railroad in Arkansas, 5-7 p.m., and Elizabeth Griffin Hill will sign copies of Faithful to Our Tasks: Arkansas's Women and the Great War, 6:30-8. The reception also includes Arkansas-made beer from Stone's Throw Brewing, ice cream from Loblolly Creamery and the Delta Brass Combo playing World War I-era tunes. Coterie concert

University of Arkansas at Little Rock music students will perform for the Little Rock Musical Coterie's April program, 11 a.m. Friday at Chenal Valley Baptist Church, 1800 Rahling Road, Little Rock. Dakota Jackson, trombone, will play Lars-Erik Larrson's Concertino for Trombone; Isaac Asher, viola, and Samuel Schalchlin, piano, will play a transcription of Max Bruch's Kol Nidrei. Schalchlin will also play the first movement, "Adagio cantabile -- Allegro ma non troppo," of Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 24 in F-sharp major, op.78. And with pianist Michael Caysido he will play the piano-four-hands version of Johannes Brahms' Hungarian Dance No. 4 in f minor.

Sopranos Hannah Blacklaw and Kyra Hatley will sing the duet from Act 1, Scene 1 of Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel. And Caysido will join Kristen Bomberger, violin, and Alexander Seman, cello, for the first movement, "Molto allegro ed agitato," of Felix Mendelssohn's Piano Trio No. 1 in d minor, op.49.

StarDaze festival

Star City hosts the two-day 14th annual StarDaze Festival, featuring country singer Chris Lane with opening acts Bailey Bryan and RaeLynn, 6 p.m. Friday on the Relyance Bank Stage, on the courthouse lawn, 300 S. Lincoln Ave. (U.S. 425). Jo Dee Messina headlines a concert at 6 p.m. Saturday with Dylan Schneider and Exile. The event includes a motorcycle point run and car show, food, and rides for children, a fishing tournament, a 5K run and more than 75 arts and craft vendors and exhibits. Admission is free. El Paso rodeo

The Central Arkansas Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association will hold its ninth annual Central PRCA Rodeo, 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday at CrossRoads Cowboy Church and Two Bar Two Arena, 3701 Arkansas 5, El Paso. Entertainment includes comedian Frankie "Punkintown" Smith and Bert Davis and his Muttley Crew, featuring 10 rescued dogs, adopted by Davis and his wife, Frannie. The association will also honor local veterans as part of its partnership with the Wounded Warriors of Arkansas. The Miss Rodeo Arkansas pageant is another part of the event, with the crowning during the Friday night show, plus events for children starting at 6:30. History tour

The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program's April "Walks Through History" tour, 11 a.m. Saturday, will visit the Keo Commercial Historic District, starting at the Cobb Gin Complex, Main and Fleming streets, Keo. Benton auditions

Benton's Royal Players will hold auditions for All Shook Up! The Elvis Presley Musical -- the songs of Elvis Presley with a book by Joe DiPietro -- 10 a.m. April 22 and 7 p.m. April 23 at the Royal Theater, 111 S. Market St., Benton. Director Frank O. Butler is casting five men and five women, plus a chorus. Auditioners should prepare 16-32 bars of music (chorus and verse) -- it can be music from the show -- and provide sheet music for the accompanist. The audition will include a movement segment (dress accordingly, including proper footwear -- no flip-flops or sandals) and readings from the script. Those unable to attend can submit a video audition to the director by way of Facebook messenger by midnight April 23. Production dates are Aug. 10-20. Rehearsals start in July. Call (501) 315-5483.
