Basketball: Har-Ber's King signs with Arkansas Tech

SPRINGDALE -- Springdale Har-Ber senior forward Zane King signed a letter of intent to continue his basketball career at Arkansas Tech University on Wednesday in Wildcat Arena.

King helped guide the Wildcats to a 22-8 record, an appearance in the state semifinals and a 7A-West conference championship in 2016-17. He averaged eight points, four rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game last season.

"I'm proud of Zane," Har-Ber coach Scott Bowlin said. "He's seen the good, he's seen the bad playing here. To be able to go out on the foot he went out on makes me feel good. He paid his dues along the way. The last three weeks of the season, at his position, I feel like he was playing as good as anybody in the state."

Bowlin was adamant Wednesday that King's best basketball is still ahead of him.

"I know (Arkansas Tech coach Chad Kline) told me (playing early) is a possibility," Bowlin said. "He will have to get used to the speed and strength of the game like he has at every level, but I'm glad he will have some familiar faces down there."
