Arkansas Sports Hall of Famers honored with their own day at the races

HOT SPRINGS -- It was Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame Day at the races March 24 at Oaklawn Park. The nine races were each named for one or a group of inductees who afterward presented their race winner with a trophy.

The day ended with a Meet the Stars reception at the Hot Springs Convention Center, where there was music, a buffet and an array of Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame memorabilia on display.

Board member Andrew Meadors told the crowd how much he appreciated the crew at Oaklawn for sponsoring the event. "It's great exposure for our organization and truly a special day," he said.

Meadors then introduced recent Hall of Fame inductee Jim Rasco, who introduced the rest of the inductees present: David Bazzel, Pat Bradley, Terri Conder-Johnson, Bill Davis, Chuck Dicus, Wally Hall, Cliff Harris, Ken Hatfield, Joe Kleine, Larry Lacewell, Fred Marshall, Kevin McReynolds, Larry Snyder and Terry Wallace.

The Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame honors men and women who through their achievements and accomplishments in sports have brought honor and fame to Arkansas. The Hall of Fame also funds scholarships for students for whom sports has been a positive influence.
