Jordan has provided strong leadership for city

I have known Lioneld Jordan for more than 35 years, most of it working at the University of Arkansas carpenter shop. He is a true friend of mine and a man of his word. His experiences as a man working to raise and educate a family with four children and as an alderman for eight years have served him well.

Mayor Jordan has provided strong leadership and sensible fiscal management to this city in his eight years as mayor. With an emphasis on building the city's infrastructure, economic development, encouraging citizen participation and managing the city budget, his hard work and common-sense approach, along with a dedicated city staff, have accomplished so much.

It is not surprising that Fayetteville has received numerous national awards, including the No. 3 Best Place To Live 2016 by U.S. News and World Report and No. 23 in the Top 100 Best Places for Businesses and Careers by Forbes, along with many others. Great job!

We need this dedicated and principled leadership for our great city to become even better, driven by practical common sense and a vision that includes everyone.

On election day, I'm definitely voting for Mayor Lioneld Jordan. I hope you will, too.

Human-based morality not a dependable path

The Sept. 23 letter by Sue Totten lauded moral atheists. Morality can be utilized by the CEO of hell as a tool to fool.

The proper term is righteousness, which is what the only true God requires. No sin, period. Zero. Zilch.

He demands Heaven be void of it. He has given Christ to pay for and eliminate it. The Holy Spirit to convey and convince the mandatory heart change and us humanoids to, by faith, reciprocate His love. To Him first and as a byproduct, to others.

There are two arguments: The great white throne for the unregenerate and the Bema Seat judgment for those loving the Father, His Son and the Holy Spirit that somehow keeps this mess glued together.

All sins, past and present and future, have been paid for. On our own, no amount of alleged goodness is a fix.

Jordan leads Fayetteville like a superhero

Ever wonder where Superman hangs his cape since we no longer have phone booths? Well, he changed his name to Lioneld Jordan and lives right here in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Our mayor is everywhere. He is at the library, the Farmer's Market, the diversity parade, serving food at the Yvonne Richardson Center, supporting the Washington County Historical Society, raising awareness regarding domestic violence, opening a wonderful new park in west Fayetteville, at the Literacy Council, supporting the Single-Parent Scholarships, congratulating our Bulldogs and Razorbacks, supporting the Seven Hills Homeless Shelter, supporting our Dickson Street festivals, building infrastructure -- new sidewalks, roads, and trails -- helping to attract new businesses, and doing so much more that it is impossible to list.

He works an average of 12 hours a day. He has never missed a City Council meeting as mayor or alderman. Every person is worthy of his time. He is a listener. He loves our town and cares about all its people. We are so fortunate to have this ethical man for our mayor. He is truly a treasure and a public servant.

Please join me in voting for my friend, Mayor Lioneld Jordan, on Nov. 8.
