Weigh-in work

set to begin

Work will begin Oct. 6 on a new bass tournament weigh-in facility at Prairie Creek park on Beaver Lake, said Jon Stein, district fisheries biologist with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, which is in charge of construction.

A pavilion, stage and other amenities will be built next to the park boat ramp. The two picnic shelters on site will be removed, Stein said. The weigh-in facility will have picnic tables available for public use.

Construction will take several weeks.

Check license

before seasons

Hunting seasons are opening through autumn, and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission reminds hunters to check their licenses to be sure they have not expired and are valid for the coming seasons.

It’s easy to forget to renew a hunting license, according to Game and Fish. Licenses can be purchased online, by phone or at a license dealer.
