WASHINGTON COUNTY

Friendship Baptist Church in Springdale, 5395 E. Robinson Ave., presents Dennis Jernigan in concert at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Jernigan is a worship artist, author and songwriter. His songs include “You Are My All in All,” “Nobody Fills My Heart Like Jesus” and “Thank You.”

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, 2925 N. Old Missouri Road, presents Savanna Sullivan, who just returned from a year of service in Rwanda with the Young Adults in Global Mission program of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, speaking about her work as a secondary school science teacher and the program at 6 p.m. Monday.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, 224 N. East Ave., presents Marilyn Keiser, the chancellor’s professor of music education at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University in Bloomington, in a free performance at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 30. She leads a workshop for church musicians at 9 a.m. Oct. 1 at the church, sponsored by Friends of Music at St. Paul’s.

Keiser will perform works by Mendelssohn, Handel, Bach and Vierne. She has been an active church musician, with appointments as organist at churches in New York City and Asheville, N.C., and she currently serves as the director of music at Trinity Episcopal Church in Bloomington.

BENTON COUNTY

John Brown University in Siloam Springs hosts the “Heritage of Hymns” at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Cathedral of the Ozarks on campus. The Singing Men of Arkansas are joined by the John Brown Cathedral Choir for the concert. Admission is free, but an offering will be taken.

First United Methodist Church in Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive, presents the Saar Trio at 3 p.m. Oct. 2 as part of the church’s Wesley Series. The ensemble includes Theresa Delaplain on oboe and Lia Uribe on bassoon; both are faculty members for University of Arkansas music department. The will be joined by Andrew Campbell on piano, from the music faculty of Arizona State University in Tempe. The music will include works by Astor Piazzolla, Francis Poulenc, Theophile Lalliet, Andre Previn and UA faculty member Robert Mueller.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bentonville Stake, 1101 McCollum Dr., presents its 10th annual Northwest Arkansas Emergency Preparedness Fair from 9 a.m.to 1 p.m. today. Activities include free lunch, a children’s area with “grab-andgo” emergency bags, junior ranger activities, emergency vehicles to explore, presentations by local meteorologists Dan Skoff and Darby Bybee, a Red Cross blood drive and car seat safety checks by the Bentonville Police Department.

Cross Church Pinnacle Hills in Rogers, 2448 Pinnacle Hills Parkway, offers a six-week session of the Art of Marriage, meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. each Sunday from Oct. 9 to Nov.

  1. Topics include God’s purpose for marriage, overcoming isolation, fulfilling responsibilities, communication, conflict resolution, intimacy and leaving a legacy. Cost is $35 per couple, and free child care is available.
