A Russellville man was arraigned Friday morning after his arrest Thursday in the deaths of two Yell County men whose bodies were found inside a vehicle at a junkyard, according to authorities.

Tyler Barefield, 35, was ordered held without bail on two counts of capital murder in connection with the slayings of Aaron Brock, 22, and Beau DeWitt, 22, both of Dardanelle, Pope County sheriff’s administrative assistant Ramona Woods said.

DeWitt's mother, Kim Cooksey-DeWitt, 57, told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that Brock and DeWitt went to U-Pull-It Auto Parts at 3001 S. Mobile Ave. in Russellville during business hours Sept. 16, telling an employee that they planned to buy a passenger window and four shock absorbers for a vehicle DeWitt had purchased.

When the two were unable to remove the parts during regular business hours, they returned at midnight with their girlfriends to get them, Cooksey-DeWitt said.

She said their girlfriends, after not being called by Brock and DeWitt as planned, then drove back and forth outside the junkyard, unable to reach either of the men.

After missing persons reports were filed, Pope County sheriff's deputies responded around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday to U-Pull-It Auto Parts, where they found the bodies of Brock and DeWitt inside a vehicle.

The sheriff's office said Barefield is set to enter a plea on the capital-murder charges at an Oct. 31 hearing.
