Journalist, author to speak at Harding

SEARCY -- Time magazine's Michael Duffy, a political journalist and author, will speak at Harding University next month.

His speech will focus on what he learned while co-writing the book The Presidents Club: Inside the World's Most Exclusive Fraternity. The book, co-authored with Time magazine's Nancy Gibbs, explores the facets of the private relationships among modern American presidents from Hoover to Obama, such as backroom deals, rescue missions, secret alliances and enduring rivalries.

Duffy is Time magazine's assistant managing editor and chief political correspondent. He has worked at Time for 31 years. For eight years, he was the magazine's Washington bureau chief.

His Oct. 3 speech is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in Benson Auditorium. Afterward, he will sign books. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

Additional information is available from the university's American Studies Institute at (501) 279-4497.
