SPRINGDALE -- Fayetteville used big runs in each set to sweep Springdale High 3-0 (25-9, 25-8, 25-9) on the road Tuesday night.

"I think we wanted to see our girls go out and (dominate)," said Fayetteville volunteer assistant coach Sara Kincaid, who filled in for coach Jessica Phelan, who missed the game with a family matter. "We served really well tonight.

"I think we've just got to keep doing what we're doing," she added. "We've got Van Buren Thursday, so I think we need to keep at the pace we're going right now."

Fayetteville (16-4, 5-1 7A-West) totaled 12 service aces in the win, led by Ella May Powell's six. Five of Powell's aces came in the final set during a 15-0 Lady Purple'Dog run to take a 15-2 lead.

"Passing has been one of our biggest issues recently, and we're looking for someone to really step up and be mentally tough to get the pass and put it in play," Springdale coach Meagan Thompson said.

The 15-0 run was Fayetteville's longest streak of the match. In the first set, Springdale led 6-4 before a 13-0 spurt gave the Lady Purple'Dogs all of the momentum. Haley Warner was big for Fayetteville in the opening set, tallying five kills. Olivia Wales then capped the set win with a pair of aces.

With Fayetteville up 9-5 in set two, Powell sparked a 12-0 run with her first kill of the night. The lead ballooned to 21-5 before Springdale (5-12-2, 2-4) tacked on three points thanks to Fayetteville errors.

"We've just got to learn to communicate and be more of a team," Thompson said. "Those are the things we've been focusing on the most in practice, and it's still our biggest struggle.

"Going into Rogers I hope we come together, and can put everything we've been practicing into our play," she added.
