Logan County man found dead by family

The death of a man found lying in his front yard Monday night near Scranton is being investigated as a homicide by the Logan County Sheriff's Office and Arkansas State Police.

Sheriff's Office investigator Jason Massey said Tuesday that Coty Cameron, 32, was found dead Monday night outside his home on Arkansas 288 East near Scranton by family members who stopped by for a visit.

"When they got there they saw that he had blood on his head, his hands, and there was several places on the ground covered with blood," Massey said. "It looked like a suspicious death up front to them, so they called us out and the state police."

Massey said the body will be sent to the state Crime Lab in Little Rock for an autopsy. He declined comment on the exact injuries Cameron suffered until the medical examiner's report is completed.

No one has been arrested.

"We don't have a clear suspect, but there are several people we have received information about," Massey said. "We are following up on those, but we are also waiting for information to come back from the laboratory."

Officers collected evidence from the yard and from inside the house and will send it to the crime lab.

"On the digital evidence there is a lot of potential information about what kind of weapon was used," Massey said. "People are sending us messages and we are following up on them."

Cameron's death marks the second homicide this year in the incorporated area of Logan County.
