Russellville improved to 2-0 following its 14-11 win over Morrilton while Heritage dropped to 0-2 after opening with a 31-14 loss to Little Rock Central.

"I thought, physically, we came out and set the tone," Russellville coach Billy Dawson said. "We had a good first drive and got a three-and-out against them. It was a clean first half with only one penalty and we executed well."

Heritage scored the only touchdown in the second half on a 2-yard run by Ryan Foster with four minutes, three seconds left in the game. The extra point was blocked.

"We were sleepwalking a bit early in the game," Heritage coach Tony Travis said. "You can blame it on the bus ride, you can blame it on not being ready to play, you can blame it on me as a head coach. But we've got to come out better."

Heritage crossed midfield only once in the first half after a 16-yard run by Dylan Qualls with just over three minutes left in the second quarter. The War Eagles threatened in the third quarter after a 25-yard run by Qualls. But quarterback Trey Kitterman fumbled on first down and Russellville took over at its 13.

Fulsom was particularly effective on short and medium-range passes against the Heritage defense. He was 20 of 23 in the first half with 187 yards on two touchdowns.

Russellville ate up most of the clock in the first quarter after taking the opening kickoff and going 67 yards in 11 plays for the score. Fulsom got the touchdown on a 10-yard run and the Cyclones struck again on a 17-yard run by halfback Josiah Woodard.

Heritage managed only one first down and 23 yards in the first half. The offense was so ineffective that consecutive running plays lost a combined 10 yards on one series.
