Pundits punch up suppertime at museum

Politics was once again the topic of discussion at the Old State House Museum -- Arkansas' original state Capitol. Local political pundits and Arkansas Democrat-Gazette columnists Rex Nelson and John Brummett were the guest speakers Oct. 13 at the Old State House Museum Associates Annual Supper dubbed "A Trumped-up Hillaryous Evening."

The duo kept the large crowd entertained as they expounded on local and national politics, past and present.

The evening began with a reception on the lawn of the Old State House followed by a seated chicken dinner inside. Guests were welcomed by event chairman Nikki Lawson, who noted she has been chairman of a variety of events for the association since 1986. The speakers were introduced by Lana Bethune, museum associates president.

The museum associates support the museum in a variety of ways including educating the public about the historic value of the building and supporting the programs and exhibits of the museum, such as the School Bus Fund, the Pillars of Power exhibit and the First Ladies Gowns exhibit.
