As an arts presenter, you win a few and you lose a few.

Teresa Schlabach, Alma Performing Arts Center executive director, isn't happy about losing "The Bridges of Madison County" as a January Broadway tour stop. The tour was canceled, so there was no other option.

But she's excited to add a show this month, just a week after the season opens with Horseshoe Road Saturday. Britain's Finest, taking the stage on Oct. 27, is a Beatles' tribute band and more.

On Chris Carter's Sunday morning "Breakfast With the Beatles" show on KLOS 95.5, Carter said, "Interviewing Britain's Finest must have been what it would've been like interviewing the Beatles," and the band was also featured in a segment on best tribute bands in Los Angeles by Niki Payne on CBS Los Angeles. She wrote, "Britain's Finest is as close to the real deal as you may ever find in this lifetime."

The Alma Performing Arts Center, part of the school district, opened in February 2002. The auditorium seats 1,500 and is the home for school band, choir and theater productions in addition to the season Schlabach books.

"We try to find five to seven shows that offer something for everyone -- one country show, one musical theater show, one dance show, one pop show, all different kinds of things," she says. "The whole reason we do this besides introducing the arts to the public is that we use all the money after expenses for scholarships for the high school."
