Area restaurants and potters are coming to the aid of LifeSource International, providing soups and bowls for the annual LifeSource International benefit "Empty Bowls" on Nov. 1 at Pratt Place Barn in Fayetteville.
Tessa Capel, development director, said the benefit is "a reminder of the empty bowls in Northwest Arkansas." Proceeds from the benefit will help the group with procuring food for those in need. The group operates a food pantry and offers a number of meal outreach programs.

The nonprofit organization assists more than 62,000 people each year with services for families in need that include clothing, adult education, medical referral, after school care and summer camp for children, and counseling.
Capel said there is a growing need for children's program offerings such as the summer day camp. During the summer, "We need to make sure [the children] aren't home alone and not lose two and a half months of learning" while school is out.
Planned soups on the menu include roasted pumpkin bisque with toasted pepitas, stuffed bell pepper soup, four cheese and broccoli with bacon garnish, clam chowder and chicken gnocchi. Breads and desserts also will be available.
Guests will go home with hand-made pottery or wooden bowls donated by local potters and area schools.
