Little Rock lawyer Roger Glasgow discusses his book, Down and Dirty Down South: Politics and the Art of Revenge, Wednesday at the Central Arkansas Library System’s Main Library in Little Rock.

Little Rock lawyer Roger Glasgow will discuss his new book, Down and Dirty Down South: Politics and the Art of Revenge, at the Butler Center for Arkansas Studies' Legacies & Lunch program, noon Wednesday in the Darragh Center of the Central Arkansas Library System's Main Library, 100 Rock St., Little Rock. The book focuses on Glasgow and his wife's surprising stop at the border and subsequent arrest for drug smuggling as they were returning from a 1972 vacation trip to Mexico. The event is sponsored in part by the Arkansas Humanities Council. Admission is free; attendees should provide a sack lunch and the Butler Center will provide drinks and dessert. Playwright Kevin Willmott, who wrote the screenplay for Spike Lee's Chi-Raq, will discuss "Screenwriting, Race, and Being Creatively Maladjusted" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Reves Recital Hall, Hendrix College, 1600 Washington Ave., Conway. El Dorado shows

The theater steering committee of South Arkansas Arts Center in El Dorado is taking applications through Nov. 18 from directors, choreographers and music directors for its 2017 season productions: The Neverending Story, David S. Craig's adaption of the film, in March, and The Addams Family -- A New Musical in the summer. The center says its salary schedule is "competitive and will be set according to experience."
