Seth Stanley scored inside to pull Heritage (1-1) within 36-35 midway through the third quarter, but the War Eagles wouldn't score again until the 3-minute, 58-second mark of the fourth quarter. In the meantime, Parkview (1-0) took control of the game.

Njenga Chatman canned a 3-pointer late in the third quarter to give the Vikings a 41-35 lead and opened the fourth with a three-point play. The 6-foot-1 senior buoyed Parkview's 18-0 run that turned a one-point lead into 54-35 advantage on J.T. Brown's jumper.

Seth Cooper finally broke the dry spell by converting a three-point play with 3:58 left in the fourth quarter, but Heritage got no closer than the final score.

Heritage coach Tom Olsen acknowledged the Vikings' quickness got to them in the second half.

"Defensively they got pretty good," said Olsen, whose team finished with 20 turnovers. "They turned it up on us a little bit. When you look back at a game like that, we had some chances. Some loose balls, some rebounds that we really needed to get in that stretch and the ball would go off our hands or we didn't quite get there. We miss a couple shots around the basket.

"To their credit, they are good, athletic and hard to get the ball from. They had a lot to do with them going on an 18-0 run, just how good they are defensively. They kind of wore on us a little bit."

Stanley was Heritage's lone player in double figures with 13, while Parkview placed four in double figures and another with nine. Brown, a 6-2 senior, led all scorers with 17, while junior guards Lencorya Grady and Demarcus Mason added 11 each. Freshman Dontae Taylor chipped in 10.

Parkview coach Landon Cornish said his team's balance and quickness are its calling cards.

"That's kinda who we are and that's what are team is," Cornish said. "We've got some depth. I feel real good about playing eight or nine guys. In that third quarter is when we try to go on runs and take over games and I felt like we did that.

"We're trying to get them a little fatigued and get them to play a little faster than they wanted to. When we're able to do that, that's when we're at our best."
