BEAVER LAKE

Striped bass are biting on the south end of the lake.

Mike Whitehouse at Hickory Creek Marina said stripers are biting brood minnows or shad in the Hickory Creek area. Most fish are running 14 to 20 pounds. Stripers are feeding on the surface and deeper.

Black bass are taking top-water lures early. Minnows work best for crappie 10 to 15 feet deep around brush. Some limits of 15 crappie have been caught.

James Whittle at Hook, Line and Sinker in Rogers said stripers are also biting from Rocky Branch park to Starkey park early and late. Brood minnows fished 15 feet deep or shallower are working

Black bass are biting top-water lures and spinner baits. A key is covering lots of water. Look for bass schooling on the surface at any time of day.

Catfish are biting nightcrawlers fished with rod and reel.

BEAVER TAILWATER

Lisa Mullins at Beaver Dam Store said trout are biting a variety of flies. Good choices include midges, streamers, San Juan worms, scuds and soft hackles.

The best lures are gold and silver spoons and Flicker Shad crank baits. The top bait is Power Bait in bright colors, including chartreuse, orange and peach.

LAKE FAYETTEVILLE

Angela Perea at the lake office said bluegill fishing is good with worms. Black bass are biting fair on chatter baits, spinner baits and crank baits.

Crappie fishing has improved. Try jigs or minnows 10 feet deep. Catfish are biting glow worms or goldfish.

LAKE SEQUOYAH

Mike McBride at the lake bait shop said black bass are biting top-water lures and spinner baits. Catfish are biting well liver or shad. For crappie, fish with minnows or jigs six feet deep.

SWEPCO LAKE

Kenny Stroud in Siloam Springs suggests using top-water lures early and late. Use plastic worms two to 20 feet deep any time of day.

ILLINOIS RIVER

Stroud said small lures work best as the water cools. Small jig and pigs, small plastic worms, grubs and tube baits are good choices.

BELLA VISTA

Harvey Horne at Hook, Line and Sinker in Bella Vista said black bass are biting jerk baits, spinner baits or crank baits at all Bella Vista lakes. Try jig and pigs for deeper fish.

EASTERN OKLAHOMA

Kenny Stroud in Siloam Springs said crappie at Lake Eucha are biting minnows or jigs five to 15 feet deep. Trolling with crank baits may work for crappie.

TABLE ROCK LAKE

Pete Wenners at Pete’s Professional Guide Service said fishing is good for spotted bass, but the fish are deep. Good numbers of bass can be caught on long gravel points 20 to 45 feet deep in the Shell Knob, Baxter and Campbell Point areas.

Use small single-tail grubs, jigging spoons or finesse worms on a drop-shot rig. Best times are first light until 9 a.m., then 10:30 a.m., to noon.
