Miles visits Michigan in free time

Former LSU football coach Les Miles, fired earlier this year, enjoyed what could be described as a busman’s holiday when he took in the Michigan-Indiana game Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich., a 20-10 Wolverines victory that ended in a heavy snowfall.
Former LSU football coach Les Miles, fired earlier this year, enjoyed what could be described as a busman’s holiday when he took in the Michigan-Indiana game Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich., a 20-10 Wolverines victory that ended in a heavy snowfall.

What's Les Miles up to these days on his unwanted sabbatical from coaching? Visiting his alma mater, of course.

The former LSU coach and one-time Michigan offensive lineman and assistant popped up in Ann Arbor on Saturday, and he even brought his Michigan gear with him.

Miles offered a few comments on his future, saying he only wants to coach at a school that can win a title.

"I have no idea, I have to be honest," Miles told Angelique Chengelis of the Detroit News when asked whether he would be coaching somewhere in 2017. "I can tell you this: I'm looking for a school, an AD, a president that wants to invest in their kids and lock arms and go win a championship."

Miles has a bit of free time these days, so it makes sense that he'd stop by for Michigan's game against Indiana. He probably will be back coaching somewhere next year, so he might as well take the opportunity when he can.

Of course, if you're bored, this probably won't stop you from coming up with Les Miles-Michigan rumors based on this story. Have at it. It's not happening but have fun.

South Carolina State running back Joe Thomas Sr. made his college debut Saturday afternoon.

With 4:34 remaining in the opening quarter, Thomas, 55, took a handoff and gained 3 yards. He is believed to be the oldest player to ever appear in a Division I college football game. Thomas enrolled at South Carolina State at age 51 with his son, Joe Thomas Jr. -- now a Green Bay Packer -- and practiced as a scout player.

South Carolina State defeated Savannah State 32-0.

Naked football

Yale had beaten Harvard only once in football this century, in 2006, but the Bulldogs didn't come to mess around Saturday. After starting off the second half with a successful onside kick, Yale took a 14-7 lead. At this point, Yale fans who had made the trip to Cambridge were getting excited -- excited enough for some of the students in attendance to strip entirely naked and moon the field of play.

Behold, the bare butts of the brightest young minds in America.

The game was reportedly delayed for a few minutes while the naked students were dealt with. The butts seemingly distracted Harvard enough to keep the Crimson at bay or perhaps motivated the Bulldogs to victory, as Yale went on to win 21-14.

Add butts

Apparently it used to be a Yale tradition that between the third and fourth quarters, the Yale Precision Marching Band would play "The Stripper."

A band director in the 1990s thought that was a little too risque and stopped the practice.
