A CLASS ACT

Dogs, cats, kindness reign at Humane Society benefit

Apollo, a former shelter pet, was the first to walk the red carpet Nov. 12 at the 25th annual Reigning Cats and Dogs: A Class Act, held at Next Level Events. Apollo made his grand entrance with owner and presenting sponsor Rebecca Rice and trainer Karen Kelley at a VIP pre-party.

A champagne toast preceded the red carpet walk of canines, with toasts to the fundraiser's 25th anniversary, 70 years of work by the Humane Society of Pulaski County and to all the sponsors. KATV's Ned Perme was master of ceremonies.

The evening included musical entertainment by the band Early Morning Rain, a wine pull, appetizers and libations and live and silent auctions. The live auction included an original oil painting Diego With A Pearl Earring by Stephano and a photo package by Pawsonality Pet Photography.

Debbie Howell and Lyn Owens were event chairmen. The Humane Society of Pulaski County is a no-kill animal shelter that is funded by donations and fundraisers.
