Arkansas high school running back arrested

BENTONVILLE — A Fayetteville High School football player was arrested Tuesday in connection with two felonies. Terrance Rock, 18, was released from the Benton County jail on a $10,000 bond Wednesday. He was arrested in connection with residential burglary and theft of property. Prosecutors have not filed formal charges against Rock.

“We are fully aware of the situation regarding Terrance’s arrest,” Fayetteville Coach Bill Blankenship said Wednesday. “We are gathering information and as we continue to gather information we will make a decision concerning his involvement with our team.”

Rock, a senior running back, leads the Bulldogs in rushing with 828 yards on 106 carries and 6 touchdowns. He also has 24 receptions for 305 yards and 5 touchdowns. Fayetteville hosts Conway in the Class 7A quarterfinals Friday night. The arrest stems from an incident in September where a Centerton man claimed Rock and two juvenile boys stole items from his home, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The man reported stolen speakers, a cellphone charger and two watches, according to the affidavit.

Police were able to identify Rock as one of the suspects through photographs on Instagram, according to the affidavit.

Police also obtained messages where Rock offered to return the items if the owner did not report the incident to police, according to the affidavit.

One of the juveniles previously was arrested after he attempted to return the items, according to court documents. Rock’s arraignment is set for 8 a.m. Jan. 3.
