Long Walk screening

The Central Arkansas Library System will host a Veterans Day, opening-night screening of the movie Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, the story of a 19-year-old soldier (played by Joe Alwyn) on temporary home leave from Iraq and what actually happened to him and his squad in a harrowing battle, 7 p.m. Friday at the Riverdale VIP Cinema, 2600 Cantrell Road, Little Rock.

The film is directed by Ang Lee and also stars Kristen Stewart, Vin Diesel, Steve Martin and Chris Tucker.

The screening is part of the library's Fiction & Fact: A War Dialogue With Veterans project. A short discussion will follow with screenwriter and Arkansas native Graham Gordy and Hendrix College faculty member Alex Vernon. Arkansas Second District U.S. Rep. French Hill is expected to attend. Admission is free and open to the public; a limited number of tickets are available for reservation at the website, cals.org.

AUDITIONS

Rep: Jar the Floor

The Arkansas Repertory Theatre will hold auditions, by appointment, Nov. 16 for Cheryl L. West's dramatic comedy Jar the Floor at the Rep's Education Annex, 518 Main St., Little Rock. Director Gilbert McCauley will be looking to cast four roles via readings from "sides" (portions of dialogue) from the script; audition sides and a list and description of characters are available online at therep.org/work-with-us/auditionsides.aspx. Rehearsals begin March 7; production dates are March 31-April 16. All roles are paid. Tappers wanted

Untapped, central Arkansas' professional tap dance company, is accepting video auditions from male and female tap dancers age 18 and older through Dec. 5. Dancers must be trained at an advanced level of any style of tap dance. Teaching experience is also recommended.
