Jim Argue Jr.

Where I live: St. Charles subdivision of Little Rock

Occupation: President & CEO, United Methodist Foundation of Arkansas. The foundation's mission is to develop and administer permanent charitable endowments that support United Methodist ministries in Arkansas.

My favorite space is: Our den. It was virtually useless when we first built the house in 1981 because it was so small. We remodeled it into a very large room with a tall ceiling 25 years ago. We expanded the den into our old double garage and built a new garage and attic. It's been a great family and gathering space ever since. The remodeling project was my wife, Elise's, idea, and I resisted at first, but it has proven to make all the difference in terms of the warmth and livability of our home.

Why? It's where Elise and I do our favorite things, including watching our TV shows, enjoying dinner together, reading, working on hobbies, and enjoying time with Sammy the MagnifiCat. It's the repository for our library, family photos, and travel mementos. It's where we entertain friends and family, and best of all, it's where our grandchildren Charlotte and Anderson come to visit.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Wouldn't change a thing. We've spent 35 years getting it just right!
