Home sales in state jump 8.7% in April

Home sales in Arkansas in April rose 8.7 percent compared with April last year, the Arkansas Realtors Association said Friday.

There were 2,781 homes sold last month, up from 2,558 sold in April last year.

It was the 20th-straight month of sales increases compared with sales from a year earlier.

Home prices averaged $172,922 in the 43-county area surveyed by the association, an increase of 1.7 percent from April last year.

Pulaski County Realtors sold 506 homes last month, the highest total in the state. Benton County was second with 491 homes sold.

For the first four months of the year, home sales were up 9.4 percent compared with the same period last year.

Benton County has had the most sales for the first four months with 1,666 sold. Pulaski County had 1,619 home sales through April this year.
