Travs power up to double up

The Arkansas Travelers used three home runs and a strong start from pitcher Troy Scribner to down the Corpus Christi Hooks at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, Texas, on Thursday.

The Travs scored the first eight runs, which first baseman Eric Aguilera got started with a two-run home run in the first inning. Right fielder Chad Hinshaw's solo home run in the second inning pushed the Travs' lead to 4-0.

Shortstop Anthony Phillips' two-run home run in the fourth made it 6-0, and center fielder Cal Towey's RBI triple and second baseman Andrew Daniel's run-scoring single pushed the lead to 8-0 later in the inning.

Scribner allowed 1 hit in 5 shutout innings while striking out 3 and walking none. He lowered his season ERA to 5.22.

The Hooks rallied with three runs in the seventh and one in the eighth, but Austin Adams closed out an uneventful ninth inning with one hit allowed and two strikeouts.
