Board OKs jumps in schools’ tuitions

The University of Arkansas System board approved tuition and fee rates for all of its schools Thursday.

Students at the Fayetteville campus will face a 3.5 percent tuition and fee increase for the 2016-17 school year, which will raise the annual cost for those taking 30 credit hours over two semesters by nearly $300. Such students each will pay $8,819, up from $8,521.

The University of Arkansas at Fort Smith will raise rates by 6 percent, with a fulltime, in-state undergraduate student now paying $6,701, up from $6,322.

At the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, in-state undergraduates will now pay $8,633 for 30 credit hours over two semesters.

Those enrolled at the University of Arkansas at Monticello will shell out $7,210 — an 11.8 percent increase from last year’s tuition-and-fee price tag.

And those at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff will pay 6.5 percent more at $6,676 for 30 credit hours over two semesters.
