Travs can't cash in late

HOOKS 2, TRAVELERS 1

Corpus Christi's Keegan Yuhl silenced the Travs for seven innings, and Brendan McCurry shut the door in a 2-1 loss Wednesday night at Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Yuhl allowed 4 hits, 1 walk and no runs while striking out 2 as the Hooks built a 2-0 lead through seven. David Schmidt took over in the eighth and got the first out before allowing the next three hitters to reach on two singles and a walk.

McCurry entered the game and hit Chad Hinshaw to pull the Travs within 2-1, but center fielder Carlos Gomez -- on a rehab assignment for the Houston Astros -- caught Eric Aguilera's line drive and threw out Alex Yarbrough at home.

The Travs got the tying run to third base in the ninth, but Andrew Daniel was stranded.

MISSIONS 2, NATURALS 1

Mike Olt’s leadoff home run in the bottom of the fifth inning gave San Antonio enough insurance as it ended a fourgame losing streak against Northwest Arkansas on Wednesday at Wolff Stadium in San Antonio.

Olt’s home run off Naturals starter Ashton Goudeau (0-1) gave the Missions a 2-0 lead. San Antonio led 1-0 on Jose Rondon’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth.

Northwest Arkansas’ only run came in the eighth, when Jack Lopez stole second and third after a leadoff walk and then scored on Orlando Calixte’s infield single.

Kyle Lloyd (2-0) earned the victory in his second start with San Antonio. He pitched 6 shutout innings, allowing 3 hits with 2 strikeouts. Goudeau gave up 2 earned runs on 3 hits with 3 strikeouts over 6 innings.
