BENTONVILLE -- A Siloam Springs man was arrested Monday in connection with sexual abuse of a 9-year-old girl.

Reynaldo Camarillo Perez, 44, was being held in the Benton County Jail on a $40,000 bond Wednesday. He was arrested in connection with second-degree sexual assault, a felony punishable with a prison sentence ranging from five to 20 years. Prosecutors have not filed formal charges against Perez.

Benton County Sheriff's Office deputies were called in Siloam Springs regarding the sexual abuse of a girl earlier this month, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The girl's mother noticed her daughter was acting strange and she began to question the girl, the affidavit states. The girl told her mother Perez had inappropriately touched her, according to the affidavit. The girl was interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center of Benton County.

The girl said Perez told her not to tell anyone, but she told her older sister, according to the affidavit.

Keshia Guyll, spokeswoman for the Sheriff's Office, said the case is ongoing.

Perez was ordered not to have any contact with the girl or any unsupervised contact with any other children.

His arraignment is scheduled for 8 a.m. July 5 in Circuit Judge Robin Green's court.
