WASHINGTON COUNTY

University of Arkansas offers a new course, “Introduction to Yiddish Literature and Culture,” May 31 to July 1. Instructor Jacob Adler, rabbi of Temple Shalom of Northwest Arkansas in Fayetteville, described the class as “essentially, the world of Fiddler on the Roof.”

The class meets from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Credit hours are given for world literature and humanities.

Unity of Fayetteville, 4880 W. Wedington Drive, offers several classes. TaiChi instruction is available at 6 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday for a love offering. Ben Worth leads a meditation class from 9 a.m. to noon today.

An eight-week class on mindfulness-based stress reduction runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., beginning Monday. An orientation session is at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Jon Medders leads the class, and the cost is $125.

REGION

First Presbyterian Church of Eureka Springs, 209 Spring St., celebrates its 130th anniversary Sunday. Morning worship begins at 11 a.m., led by the Rev. Clare Kelley, followed by a tour and a reception in the fellowship hall.

The church has held services since fall 1880 at its current location. The charter of the church was in March 1882. The church was built of donated native limestone and excess local lumber from the construction of the Crescent Hotel.
