Rogers School District names new assistant principals

ROGERS -- The School District has chosen four new assistant principals, including two from inside and two from outside the district.

Kristy Brown will join the staff at Lowell Elementary School. She has been a literacy facilitator in the district since 2011 and has worked at Harding University as an adjunct professor since 2010. Brown completed a program of study to be a building principal at Arkansas State University in 2015.

Christina Meister is the new assistant principal at Northside Elementary School. She has been an assistant principal at Springdale's Bayyari Elementary School since 2008. She has a master's degree in educational administration from Harding University.

Chris Cochran is moving from Oklahoma to fill an assistant position at Elmwood Middle School. He was an assistant principal intern this school year at a middle school in Bethany, Okla., and previously worked as a visual arts specialist teaching art for four years. He obtained a master's degree in educational leadership from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2015.

Ron Hensley has been an academic facilitator at Lingle Middle School; now he'll be one of its assistant principals. He has coached track and football at Oakdale Middle School and taught math in the district. Hensley has a master's degree in educational leadership from Arkansas State University.

Cochran and Hensley are filling positions left vacant when assistant principals were promoted to principal jobs in Rogers.

The School Board approved the hiring decisions at its meeting Tuesday.
