Road work will close lanes on Elm Springs Road

SPRINGDALE —Work on Elm Springs Road will require lane closures beginning tonight, according to Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department officials.

East and West bound lanes of Elm Springs Road will be closed nightly between 45th St. and 48th St. The lane closures can be expected from 7 p.m. through 7 a.m.

Traffic will be controlled by flaggers, signage, overhead lights, and traffic drums. Traffic will be reduced to one lane at various times.

The lane closures are necessary to perform striping and signal modifications so that work to widen the overpass bridge can begin. It is anticipated that the lane closures will occur through Saturday night.

Adjustment of the times may become necessary due to weather or other unforeseen conditions.

In May, the Arkansas Highway Commission awarded a contract, in the amount of $6.2 million to Manhattan Road & Bridge Co. for the project. The project will widen the Interstate 49 overpass bridge structure at the Elm Springs Road Interchange.
