Work on Interstate 49 in Springdale requires overnight lane closures beginning today and lasting through Tuesday, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.
Crews removing a temporary concrete barrier wall between Elm Springs Interchange and Spring Creek Bridges will require the northbound lanes of I-49 to be closed between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. and the southbound lanes between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., weather permitting.
No work is anticipated for the overnight hours on Friday or Saturday, the department said. Traffic will be controlled using signs and barrels.
The work is part of a $21.6 million project to widen 3.4 miles of I-49 to six lanes, from U.S. 412 to Wagon Wheel Road in Springdale. The project is anticipated to be complete in late 2016, the department said.
