3 accused of aggravated burglary in Bentonville

Three men are accused of breaking into a Bentonville home with a handgun early Wednesday morning and stealing a DVD player while the residents hid in a closet, according to a news release from the Bentonville Police Department.

Police received a report of a residential burglary in progress at 1307 S.E. 21st St. at 1:11 a.m. Wednesday, according to the news release.

Residents told officers they were watching "We Are Marshall" on a DVD when they heard noise coming from the backyard and realized somebody was trying to get in, the news release stated.

One person saw the back door kicked open, and a man wearing a mask and holding a handgun enter, according to the news release.

The two people inside the home hid in a closet and contacted a friend, who called 911. They also heard multiple voices talking, according to the news release.

Officers searched the area and found a green Ford car in the Bentonville High School parking lot behind the neighborhood where the burglary was reported, according to the news release.

Inside were Victor Vega, 18, of Bella Vista; Kelly Nichols, 19, of Rogers; and Josue Gonzales, 21, of Fayetteville, according to the news release and jail records.

Police found a black Ruger LCP handgun, a DVD player with "We Are Marshall," and other items that had been stolen from the home, the news release stated.

Vega was arrested in connection with aggravated residential burglary, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance, according to the news release.

Gonzales and Nichols were arrested in connection with aggravated residential, the news release stated.

The three were being held Wednesday in the Benton County Jail with no bond set.
