FAYETTEVILLE — A man was stabbed in the neck Tuesday morning near a Fayetteville motel, said Sgt. Craig Stout, a police spokesman.

A preliminary report shows the man told police another man he knew stabbed him around 10:45 a.m. Tuesday near Motel 6 at 2980 N. College Ave., Stout said. The man was able to describe his assailant, Stout said.

No arrests had been made in the case as of 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. The names of the men involved have not been confirmed, Stout said.

More information is expected to be released today, Stout said. The case is under investigation, he said.

The man's injuries were described as "puncture wounds," but police had no immediate information on the man's condition. The man was able to drive himself to Washington Regional Medical Center, Stout said.
