— Arkansas baseball coach Dave Van Horn will miss the first game of the Razorbacks' series at Mississippi State to attend his daughter's high school graduation.

Van Horn's youngest daughter, Mariel, is scheduled to graduate from Shiloh Christian School in Springdale on Thursday, the same day as Arkansas' series opener against the No. 4 Bulldogs in Starkville, Mississippi.

A team spokesperson said the absence was prearranged at the start of the season and Van Horn will rejoin the team for games Friday and Saturday.

In 2012, Van Horn missed the opening game of a series at Tennessee to attend the graduation of his oldest daughter, Hollan, at Shiloh Christian.

The Razorbacks need at least one win at Mississippi State to stay in contention for the SEC Tournament next week. Arkansas has not missed the SEC Tournament since 2008.
