Hit The Road

Artosphere fills trails with sound of music

Trail Mix is expanding this year to include all the cities along the 36-mile stretch of the Razorback Greenway. Erin Rogers, the public relations director at the Walton Art Center, says the beauty of Trail Mix is community members can hit one or two performances or make an entire day out of it by taking their bike to each stop during the event. She promises there will be something for everyone.

As the signature event for the Artosphere Art and Nature Festival, it has been the goal of Trail Mix for six years to get Arkansans outside to explore and celebrate the beauty of the outdoors in Northwest Arkansas. An all-day event bringing together artists, musicians, the community and nature, Trail Mix is expanding this year to go from "square to square" -- the downtown Fayetteville square to the downtown Bentonville square -- with six major performance stops along the way on the Razorback Greenway.

Interact with larger-than-life animal puppets, see local and nationally touring folk, bluegrass and classical musicians performing out of doors, or stop at the events specific to each city (like farmers markets or Springdale's Front Porch Fest) at one of the stops highlighted on the Greenway map. Community members are encouraged to bring their bicycles out to the trails (in celebration of National Bike Month), but walking, jogging or driving to the nearest trailhead is just fine, too. Events and performances are kid friendly and nearly everything is free!
