Train-car collision kills one in Benton

One person was killed when a vehicle and a train collided Friday morning in Benton, police reported.

Officers responded about 4:18 a.m. to the crash at Sidell Road and Benton Parkway. One person in a car was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release. Another person was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock for treatment.

Late Friday, police had not publicly identified those involved in the crash. The Police Department said it was waiting to notify next of kin.

Circumstances of the crash were unclear. An investigation is ongoing.
