Report: Arkansas, Minnesota to play in basketball

— Arkansas and Minnesota will play a home-and-home basketball series beginning next season, according to a report by CBSSports.com.

The first game will be played at Williams Arena in Minneapolis, while the return game will be played at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, according to the report. Dates have not been announced.

The Razorbacks and Golden Gophers have played four times, with Arkansas holding a 3-1 series lead. The teams last played at the Maui Invitational in 2013.

The Razorbacks last played at Minnesota in 1985. The teams have never played in Fayetteville, but did play once in Pine Bluff.

Minnesota is the first known nonconference opponent for Arkansas next season. The Razorbacks are also expected to play in the Big 12/SEC Challenge.

In addition to Minnesota, Arkansas is also scheduled to host Colorado State in the 2017-18 season.
